Oregon polypore grows on conifers in
Western U.S. |
The Oregon Polypore (Ganoderma
oregonense) grows on conifers in western United States, from California to Washington.
It is closely related to the famous medicinal mushroom known as Reishi (Ganoderma
lucidum). Oregon Polypore (Ganoderma
oregonense) differs from Reishi in that it prefers cooler temperatures (approximately
10° F less), is larger (up to 1 m wide), and grows on conifers (hemlock, fir, spruce) as
opposed to hardwoods. |
